Prelims Politics for first-year Oxford students is taught through lectures, provided by the Department of Politics and International Relations (the schedule will be on WebLearn in Michaelmas Term); three to four tutorials per term; and classes in Michaelmas and Trinity terms.

The curriculum is being reformed in 2014-15, so that it incorporates more quantitative aspects of political science, and it will now be an entirely comparative paper. It will focus on the creation and maintenance of states, democracy, revolutions and other political institutions and the forces that change them over time.
